State control is replacing local leadership in our Texas public schools. On September 27, 2025, a virtual panel was moderated by former Austin ISD at-large trustee, Noelita Lugo, in collaboration with parent advocates Amy Moore and Sharyn Vane with technical support from ACPTA. The panel discussed what’s triggered past district takeovers by the Texas Education Agency, how other communities have responded, and what can be done.
