Consolidation Plans

Austin Council of PTAs received the plans for school consolidation as many of you all did: with a lot on our hearts and minds. Schools are the center of our communities. As PTAs, we work to strengthen them every day. We are parents of AISD students all over the city, and we are feeling it all right now. Grief for the schools slated to close. Compassion for the pain and anxiety that their leaders, staff, and families are dealing with right now. Anger that such big changes are necessary. Pride that our community can make incredibly hard choices and share the burden equitably. Love for our kids and our schools. Fierce determination to keep working for them, every day.

ACPTA is committed to the welfare of every child in Austin and the engagement of families in every Austin school. We are also committed to supporting you through whatever our future holds. Whether it's welcoming new families to your campus or transitioning your community and PTA to a different one, we are here for you. If you have questions or need support, please reach out to us. If you have feedback to share, plan to attend the district’s open house sessions, scheduled for 10/14, 16, 27, and 11/8. We will continue to share information and create opportunities to connect with other schools and families across the district, especially in your vertical teams. 

This is new and incredibly hard. Facing changes this big can be confusing and heartbreaking. It can also be an opportunity to show up for each other and live our values. We’re all in this together, and we’re in it with you.
